“If you don’t challenge yourself, you will never realize what you can become.”

Do you ever feel like you are too comfortable, like you want more in life? You should never let yourself get too comfortable. We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we are challenged, when we are uncomfortable. We must get out of our comfort zone, so we can make a difference. When you wake up in the morning, ask yourself, “what am I going to achieve today?” We have to constantly challenge ourselves to become better than who we were the day before! So today I CHALLENGE you to:

1. Wake up at sunrise.

I love early mornings. It feels like you are the only person awake while the rest of the world is still sleeping. For a moment, it feels like it is not real. It feels like you don’t have any problems to worry about. For that moment it is just you, the quiet, and the sunrise.

I was never a morning person until I had kids. Now I either asked myself, “do I sleep in until the kids wake up or do I wake up with the sunrise and have ME time?” Waking up at sunrise gives you quiet time, time to make a healthy breakfast, and more time in the day.

2. Eat a healthy meal.

When we eat good, we feel good! Eating healthy may be a tough challenge, but starting off with maybe one meal a day and working your way to 3 meals may be easier. I read somewhere that it only takes 21 days…21 days to of healthy eating and working out, for it to become a habit! Remember, you are what you eat!

3. Read a book.

Reading is important because if you can read, then you can learn anything about everything. Reading is another way to take a break from reality and let your imagination go wild. When I open an incredible book, the words jump off the page and create a picture full of bright colors. Reading opens the mind and allows knowledge to pour in. We need to educate ourselves everyday by reading to continue our personal growth.

4. Drink more water.

Drinking water and staying hydrated is very beneficial in so many ways. Drinking water can help with weight loss, give you an energy boost, cure a headache, promote healthy skin, help with digestive problems such as acid, promote kidney health, and keeps you hydrated for a better work out. Challenge yourself to drink 64 ounces of water everyday.

5. Turn off your TV.

Who is guilty of watching too much TV? I know I am!!! Like I said in my about me  post, I am a TV show fanatic! I could literally sit on my couch and finish a television series in just a of couple days. Don’t get me wrong, I also love the quiet too. When the boys are down for a nap or they are sleeping early at night, I love to just sit in the quiet, with the TV off, and think.

6. Make eye contact with people you pass by.

When I go to the grocery store I notice that everyone I pass is looking down, keeping to themselves. There is a sense of intimidation when making eye contact with a stranger. When you do make eye contact, it builds your self confidence. When you are confident, you feel good! I try everyday to make eye contact with people I don’t know, maybe throw out a smile. You’d be surprised how many people will smile back at you.

7. Put your cell phone aside for one hour.

I love my phone! I use my phone for everything. Today, people are glued to their cell phones. I see people sitting right next to each, texting each other. I see families at restaurants just playing on their cell phones not able to enjoy each other’s company. My husband and I always put our cell phones away when we are out to dinner. Technology is taking over the world, but it is nice just to put it aside and enjoy some good old fashion family time.

8. Go to the gym.

I tell myself everyday, “You just have to do it!!!” For some people it is tough to get motivated to go to the gym and for other people it is part of their everyday routine. I love the gym! I love the way I feel after a long sweaty workout. Some days it is challenging, but I promise if you drag yourself to gym, you will be so happy when you’re done.

9. Say hello to five strangers.

Hello, it is such a simple word. You would be surprised how hard it is to say to a complete stranger. This is another self confidence booster. I even struggle with talking to strangers, especially when I am just out and about shopping. The more conversations you have with people, the better you get at communicating. The world needs more human communication, and who knows, you might make a friend or 2 in the process.

10. Don’t COMPLAIN!!!

When I don’t complain all day long, that is a great day, especially for my husband. David always has to remind me when I’m complaining that, “it could be worse.” I always try to remember that when I want to complain about something. This is probably the most challenging for me. I just know I have to stay positive and keep those 4 words in the back of my head, “it could be worse. ”

So these are my challenges for you. Try them! See how you feel after doing each one. Don’t just do it one time, but be consistent.
